Recurve is just a type of bow, it can be shot using many different style. The recurve class is also a very large class that includes the modern olympic recurve, traditional recurves and horse bows. The definition of a recurve is a bow where the string touches the tip and the runs along the limbs for more than 1". This is the result of the "recurve" of the limbs. Note that there are longbows with a slight recurve, these are called American longbow, but since the string's only contact with the limbs are still only at the tips, they're not classed as recurves.
The 3 main types of bows are longbow, recurve and compound. With the compound being those bows with wheels at the ends of the limbs.
Now as for the styles of archery, with recurves you have traditional style and olympic/modern style. These are the styles of shooting. Traditional archers don't use sights, they usually cant their bows, meaning they tilt the bow as they shoot. They also have a higher anchor point on their face.
Olympic style archery is shot with sights, using a recurve bow. They shoot with the bow as close as possible to vertical, with a straight posture. The sights allow for a more solid low anchor point, usually under the jaw.
