Changing from arrow-rest to off the shelf shooting?
I had bought a new take down Recurve Bow (30#) and after a few days my arrow rest broke. SO I decided to shoot off the shelf(ledge) of the riser. Now before ...when I was shooting off the arrow rest, the arrows tended to go to the left of the point I was aiming at(instinctive). And now they start going to the right. I am a beginner shooter and i was wondering what may be the cause for this(except of course...my own inconsistent shooting form and aim)
You can expect a change in the impact of the arrow anytime the arrow is moved. In this case the rest is off the bow, and the arrow is now a little closer to the riser, making the arrow hit more right then it did when it was shot off the rest.
This will not be a problem when shooting instinctively, for you will at some point make the adjustments with your form to hit what you are shooting at.
But are you getting good arrow flight when shooting off the shelf? I would think that unless you are using feathers for fletching, the plastic vanes would produce a "kick" when it hits the shelf and riser, causing poor arrow flight.
You may wish to add a little stick on arrow rest at some point.
