With Bows and arrows, what's a good way to make the arrow fly better?
Here are a few questions:
Do longer bows affect the arrows speed or distance?
If the bow and/or arrow is made out of something different, will it fly faster or farther?
If the string on the bow was thicker/thinner would it fly farther or faster?
If the arrow had more or less fins would it fly farther/faster?
If the arrow tip was sharper/duller would it fly farther/faster?

targetbutt has given you some good answers, and I'll try to give you some more. Keep in mind that this is all under the assumption that the arrows being compared are shot from the same bow -- and the bows being compared are used with the same arrow.
A longer bow will not always mean a faster arrow, or even one that flies farther. All it does is allow the archer to draw the string back farther without pinching the fingers. Understand, please, that it is the physical properties of the bow which affect arrow speed/flight distance, not just the length of the bow; my 72-inch longbow sends my arrows the same speed/distance as the 54-inch recurve I used to have.
What a bow is made of will affect how the arrow flies, in that it depends on how well the bow can flex. Wood generally does not flex as well as fiber-glass, so obviously it's usually the fiber-glass bow which will "perform" better. Of course, it depends on the actual design of the bow...
A lighter arrow does fly faster, in general -- but it doesn't always fly farther. It depends a great deal on the angle of the arrow on release... If the angle of release is 90-degrees (straight out), then the lighter arrow will almost always fly farther (but it will not hit as "hard").
A thicker string is useful only when it results in a safer bow; generally speaking, the thicker a string is the slower the arrow will move - because the string gets heavier as it gets thicker and it requires more energy to move it. The result is less energy for moving the arrow. On the other hand, a thinner string might use less energy, but it also can mean a broken bow. The thickness of the bowstring depends on the design of the bow, what the bow is made of and what the string is made of.
An arrow with less "fins", as you put it, will fly farther than one with more 'fins"...in general. It depends on the material the fletches are made of, the size of the fletches and the orientation of the fletches (as well as the arrow weight, etc). Feathers are often heavier than other materials, but they can also be more forgiving as well; an arrow can fly straight with a torn feather fletch, but a torn plastic fletch will often mean a rough arrow flight; the archer has to decide what he/she is willing to "sacrifice" in overall "performance" (flight arrows demand perfect fletching, no matter what material is used).
The dullness of the arrow's tip doesn't matter, at least not until the arrow hits the target. And even if a dull tip does affect arrow speed, the difference is so negligible that it makes no real difference at all. (in general terms, a heavier tip will allow an arrow to travel farther than will a lighter tip, since it moves the arrows weight forward. to show the validity of this, take two broomhandles - one with a hunk of metal taped to the "forward" end, the other bare - and launch them both like spears with the same amount of force; see which one goes farthest)
